According to Authority Tattoo[1], how long it takes for an ear piercing to close depends on how old it is:

  • New piercing: It takes a few hours to close
  • Less than a year old piercing: It takes a couple of days to close
  • More than a year old piercing: It takes several weeks to close

The likelihood of a piercing closing up can also depend on where it’s located on your body. For instance, nose, helix and cartilage piercings have a tendency to close up more quickly. A tongue piercing that is less than a year old will probably close up to the point where jewellery cannot be inserted much faster than a year old earlobe, but you can’t count on it.[2]

According to reliable resources mentioned above it takes:

~ 2 days, 0 hours, 0 mins, 0 secs
